Power Flush as recommended by British Gas
I have just power flushed a heating system for a lady in Spital. I did it for a lot less than British Gas quoted and saved the customer about £200. Well I have'nt got any salesmen or massive overheads like them have I.
Worcester 28i Junior Heswall
My customer had a poorly Potterton Puma, well it had actually passed on to the great boiler room in the sky. I fitted a Worcester 28i Junior as a more than worthy replacement. 2 year warranty on this boiler its quite small and looks like a Rolls Royce, much too nice to lock away in a cuboard.
Central Heating System £2000
I have just fitted a new system, 5 radiators and a Heat Line Viso 24kw for an amazing 2k
Ravenheat Low Nox 120 Combi
I have recently fitted a new boiler as a swap, not much wrong with the old Potterton Puma, ecxept the fact that it was installed so close to a wall that it was impossible to get in and change the defective part.
The replacement boiler is claimed to be the smallest combi on the market 300mm deep ,400mm wide, 700mm high. This is considerably smaller than the old Puma. This allowed me to fix the new combi into the same position and achieve the required clearances for servicing etc. THIS BOILER DELIVERS EXCELLENT HOT WATER AT AROUND 15LT PER MINUTE. IT ALSO COMES WITH A THREE YEAR WARRANTY. Simple deign with loads of room to work on it if it ever needs a repair. I was well impressed.

Gloworm Beta Com 30 kw
I have just carried out a combi swap in Oxton. I took out a very tired old Worcester 240 that had been installed around 1995/6. I lifted the new boiler about 1000mm higher than the original position to aid future maintenance, it means abit more work but in the long run its a better job all round.
This boiler was well out of the way of any drain point to put the condensate drain of pipe so i fitted a condensate drain pump which works like a dream .
Its quite a small boiler size wise for a 30 kw. I was a bit disapointed with the flow rate of around 11lt per minute. Other than that its a good buy, still quite a new model so i dont know yet what its like in terms of reliability.

Heatline Viso CONDENSING COMBI
Turkish delight this one is, (made in Turkey ). A reasonably priced boiler with all the right looks and simple to operate as well comes with a mechanical timer, (I like them). Good flow rate for your hot water requirements. A good little boiler that comes with a free holiday in Turkey as standard, Im only joking I meant 12 month Guarantee. GO ON TREAT YOURSELF, from £999 fitted as a swap.
GLOWORM BETACOM
Fitted a couple of Gloworm Betacoms lately. They seem to be alright quite small in size and come with a simple to operate timer,(which I like). The heat exchanger is made of aluminium silicate and has large water ways for the water to flow. This means its ideal for boiler swaps where the water from the existing system may still contain some sludge etc even after proper flushing has been carried out.
I can supply and fit one of these 24 KW boilers for £12oo. They also come in a 30 KW size too.
So there you are a robust heat exchanger ideal for the boiler swap market. About time too..

Baxi Platinum 28 HE
just removed an old Chafataux Celtic FF. This boiler being the prefered choice and recommendation of British Gas in the early 90's. Having a British Gas contract is worth its weight in gold if you are unlucky enough to have one of these unreliable boilers.
Phil & Christine my customers had suffered for years with the french disaster combi. No wonder they decided to give themselves a bit of peace of mind when they chose to replace it with a Baxi Platinum 28 HE. Not the cheapest boiler on the market but it comes with a megga 5 year warranty as standard.( I think thats a statement of quality0
I brought the system up to current Building Regulation standards by fitting a programmable digital wireless room stat.
The boiler looks simple enough to fix if it ever goes wrong and on the whole I was quietly impressed.
I was tempted to drag the job out when my lovely customers kept plying me with the bacon and egg sandwiches and tea , the hospitality was appreciated.

Cant get the parts anymore?????
Fitted a new pump on an Ideal Mexico today. The customer was told by British Gas that you cant get some of the parts anymore and it would be wise to update it to a new one. My new customer cancelled her £27 a month contract with B G.
I spotted the problem with the pump within a couple of minutes. I had a new one fitted within 15.
Hard to come by these pumps, (not).

Think about it
I fixed a Ravenheat 85 ET today (DRY JOINT ON A THERMISTOR CONNECTION). As usual I ask the customer the track record for the boiler. It turns out that it has had a central heating thermistor replaced in its 5 year life. It cost him £80. Im going on British Gases £16 p/m insurance plan, said my customer Richard .
You paid out £80 in 5 years I said. Not bad at all I said. If you had been on the B G plan you would have paid out £960 up untill now. Think about it I said.
I mentioned to him a combi boiler has only a 10 -12 year life generally, so I could put a new one in for around about the money he will save over the next 5 years.

Worcester 28 SI 2 combi nightmare
I have been working on a 28 SI 2 today. When I arrived, The customer (Gren) pointed out its 4 year track record as follows,
What a terrible boiler Gren said, yes I agreed as I arrived at the conclusion that he would also need a new pcb at £100 +
This boiler was recommended to the customer by his installer (now retired) , not his fault as he went on reputation. Times have changed because reputation wont repair broken boilers for free when the warranty has expired.
After speaking with Worcester it appears that this boiler has had an upgrade on the pcb and hopefully Worcester have got it right now.
Grenville I wish you the best of luck.
- Replaced heat exchanger (out of warranty)

I recommend the Ravenheat CSI 85 b / a. Condensing Combi

It has a 2 or 3 year parts and labour waranty on the boiler
Fitting a Condensing Boiler will save you money

The cost of gas is very expensive. It makes good financial sense to be as fuel efficient as possible.
Energy efficient controls

Update your heating control
